COVID19 Christmas
The recent announcement from the government has set out what our Covid19 Christmas will look like. The good news is households can mix, but under strict guidelines. However, the light at the end of the tunnel comes between the 23rd and 27th December . This is where three households will be allowed to form a temporary “Christmas bubble”. Within this bubble, households can mix indoors and stay overnight.
Where can bubbles meet each other?
That’s a sentence we never thought we would write! Following the guidelines for our covid19 Christmas, bubbles can meet each other:
- In each other’s homes
- At a place of worship
- In an outdoor public space, or garden
The bubbles will be fixed, so you will not be able to mix with two households on Christmas Day and two different ones on Boxing Day. So, make sure you choose wisely! Luckily, there will be no limit to the number of people in a household joining a bubble.
Where can I travel at Christmas?
Travel restrictions will be lifted to allow people to visit their families anywhere in the UK, making it easier for families to mix. But the government has warned that there will not be extra public transport laid on, so have urged people to plan travel in advance.
Can students go home for Christmas?
University students can return to their parents at the end of term and be counted as part of their household straight away. This will be a welcomed relief for many, who feared this wouldn’t be possible. They will be able to travel home to spend Christmas with their families once the national restrictions end on 2 December. This is following the recent steps set out in new Government guidance.
So, the good news is that Christmas isn’t cancelled, although it might look very different this year. It’s been one of the toughest years so this recent news has definitely brought some Christmas cheer.
