Freshers Week – things you need to know
So, you’ve got your grades, been accepted into university and you’re about to commence freshers week. This is quite possibly the most exciting point in your life so far. You’ve waved goodbye to friends and loved ones and you’re about to start university life. But first – freshers week (or two). You’ve heard all the stories and now it’s time for you to live the wonders of Freshers Week first-hand.
What is freshers week?
This infamous week is designed to gently ease you into university life as quickly as possible. This is usually a combination of guided tours, useful information from lecturers and a serving fun for good measure.

Freshers Fair
This should be the number one on your go-to list. Here, you’ll find everything you need to start your university journey. From sports teams to chess clubs there’s something for everyone. And if that’s not encouragement enough, how about the copious number of freebies? and pizza (so much pizza), rejoice in all the things that cost no money.
Meeting new people
You’ll be thrown into the same boat as a whole load of other new starters. This is a good thing – it’s great starting point to break the ice and form new friendships. Spread your wings and make new friends!
Fancy Dress
Yes, the rumours are true – fancy dress is pretty much a prerequisite in any freshers week. Why? Because what says fun more than pirate costume. It’s an opportunity to show off your sense of humour and yes, you’ve guessed it – make friends!
