Second wave of Covid19
The UK has relaxed restrictions as we eased out of lockdown, but will we see a peak in Covid19 cases? The truth is no one can say for certain as it all relies on behaviours and keeping to the rules. However, England’s deputy chief officer Jenny Harries said a new spike in cases in the UK was a stark possibility. As we edge through the summer months and into winter, will we see a new spread of the virus?
The ‘New Normal’ and Covid19
Although England was eager to get back to normal, restrictions were eased faster than the rest of the UK and Europe. The government says the pace of change is justified as infections in the UK have been steadily declining since April. Initially, the virus peaked at over 8000 cases a day – however this number has dramatically reduced, enough to ease restrictions. There have been initiatives such as the ‘eat out to help out’ Government scheme encouraging people back into hospitality. But like with everything so far, it all relies on people acting sensibly and safely. Masks have become the norm and waiting in a queue has become part of everyday life.
How will the property industry be affected?
How the lettings industry will be affected if we see a second wave of Covid19 remains uncertain. It is likely that the economy will be hugely affected if we go into another lockdown or see restrictions enforced. As the property industry starts to recover a peak could send shockwaves into an already hugely damaged industry. Ultimately, we all play a part in keeping safe, for ourselves and those around us. The lettings industry will continue to adhere to strict guidelines and will continue to do as much virtually as possible.
