Tier 4 rental market
The government have confirmed that the rental market remains open for business even in new English Tier 4 areas. Some of the areas that have been put into new and stricter Coronavirus control measures are London, parts of the South East and East Anglia .But the lettings market is still functioning and keeping people in much needed accommodation. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government says: “You can still move home. People outside your household or support bubble should not help with moving house unless absolutely necessary.”
Covid-secure guidance
There is no doubt this is an unsettling time, and the world is almost unrecognisable as we enter 2021. However, the rental market has continued to function, enabling people to move house safely. Current rules state that people looking to move home can continue with planned moves and view new properties. Estate and lettings agents, removers, valuers, sales and lettings offices and show homes will also continue working. The Government advice on home moving during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak outlines the necessary precautions to be adhered to. And, although you can still move home, people outside your household or support bubble should not help.
What can Letting Agents still do in tier 4?
Under the new tier 4 restrictions certain activities relating to the housing market can continue such as:
- Visiting estate or letting agents, developer sales offices or show homes
- Preparing a residential property to move in
- Viewing residential properties
- Moving house
- Visiting a property to undertake any activities required for the rental or sale of that property
