London no longer the no1 place to live in the UK
It’s not surprising that Covid has changed where and how we want to live our lives. We now have a new appreciation for a slower, more fulfilling pace of life. Since the outbreak, our attention has moved away from the daily grind and moved towards creating a healthier life balance. This has been reflected in recent statistics that show London is no longer the most searched for place in the UK.
Cornwall is the new favourite
According to Rightmove, Cornwall has now overtaken London as the most searched for location for buyers. In February alone, buyers searched for Cornwall over 5 million times! This data only proves that staying at home has affected where people now want to live their lives. In addition to this, annual sales agreed in rural areas grew an impressive 69 percent, proving that the countryside is now the new favourite. But will this new trend for leaving city apartments and escaping to the country be here to stay? The answer is no one really knows. But one thing is for sure if you’re looking to sell a country property now is the time to sell!
Sought after property
The most sought-after property type for tenants in early 2020 was a two-bedroom flat. However, this has now been replaced by a two-bed semi-detached house. Rightmove’s director of property data, Tim Bannister, said: ‘The stand-out trends over the past year have been increased demand for the countryside and coastal living. More people making the dream of a detached home a reality, and the increased appeal for a garden.’ This change in buying behaviour will undoubtedly have a huge effect on the property market. The demand for more space and to live in a healthier environment will push sales in areas that have previously seen slow growth.
